FAQ

Sweepertec 2000 and Sweepertec 1200

What is the lifespan of a plastic bristle Sweepertec?

This is difficult to answer as lifespan has many variables due to different surfaces and debris wearing the bristle differently. Compound this with different operators and machines applying more pressure and it becomes trickier still. We have however got the following data:

  • Daily glass recycling requires a replacement brush every 12 months.
  • Daily sweeping of transport yards and hubs every 6 to 8 months.
  • Intermittent sweeping of concrete sites every 12 months.
  • Large recycling and waste operations, on average, get a lifespan of 4-7 months out of their brushes.
  • Scrap metal yards tend to buy every 4 to 9 months.
  • Grain merchants seem to get a lifespan of around 16 months out of their brushes.
  • Biomass plants on average replace brushes every two years.
  • Farms are very difficult to quantify but it is most often years between purchases.

We have never known the frame of a Sweepertec to break, they are extremely robust and therefore should never need replacing from normal use.

We have yet to have a Sweepertec Steel wear out.

What machine can these brushes fit?

The Sweepertec is suitable for use with any forked vehicle. If you look at the diagram below you will see what size forks the frame can accept.

Why does the brush sit at the back of the forks?

Having the brush sit at the back of the forks provides a much better sweeping action than being at the front, as the brush will bounce significantly less and will sweep debris much more effectively and cleanly.

There is an 18mm wear edge on either side of the brush which allows the operator to sweep right along walls without damaging the frame.

Can the brush be made to sit at the front of the forks?

There have been some customers in the past who have made modifications so that their brushes sit on the front of the forks, though sweeping performance will still be affected.

What they have done is to make extensions for their forks using box section and then pinning the brush to the front of these fork extensions.

Unfortunately, we can not manufacture and sell this style of extension ourselves due to the large range of fork lengths and widths different vehicles use – it simply creates too many variables for us to stock.

I can only see 8 rows of bristle.

There are 16 rows of bristle, but they are staggered in 8 blocks to provide the best sweeping performance. If you look at the image below you will see that each of the 8 blocks of bristles is comprised of 2 staggered rows of bristle.

Do you carry out demonstrations?

We do not run any in-person demonstrations of the Sweepertec, and if you would like to view the Sweepertec in use please follow this link to our video page.

Do you sell a three-point linkage brush attachment?

We have a newly launched three-point linkage attachment which may be viewed through this link.

Do you sell a skid steer brush attachment?

We have a prototype running and hope to have it for sale shortly.

Do you sell a powered brush attachment?

No, a powered brush attachment goes against the design brief of the Sweepertec; which is for a simple-to-use, versatile, and robust brush.

Simple to use.

The Sweepertec has two locking pins to securely fasten the brush to the back of the forks and this is the only effort required to begin.

Changing the brush only requires that you remove the worn brush from the assembly by loosening the 12 nuts, and attaching the new brush to the frame with its new 12 nuts and bolts.

There are no settings or setups, just apply downward force with the forks and drive.

The brush may be placed down without any stands or props until its next use, the strength of our bristle means the brush is self-supporting.

Versatility.

The Sweepertec can be used to sweep inside tight aisle warehouses, and then go outside to clear snow from the yard without any adjustments.

It can sweep a diverse range of objects such as snow, grain, slurry, and scrap metal.

Robust.

We have never heard of a Sweepertec frame breaking, and they require no maintenance with no moving parts.

A Sweepertec brush can be left unused for years and still work, requiring no maintenance or tuning. The self-supporting bristles will take no damage from standing.

The frame is fabricated from high-grade steel which is then hot-dip-galvanised to protect it from harsh environmental conditions.

How can I order

All orders are placed through the website.

We are not able to accept physical payment as we do not have a cash machine and so cannot process orders on-site or over the telephone.

Delivery

We can fit four brushes onto a pallet, which makes this the most economical quantity to purchase for delivery costs.

The cost of delivery is dependent on your address, upon reaching the checkout and entering the delivery address a price will be provided.

We despatch all of our pallets on a two to three-day economy service.

If ordered before midday we will aim to despatch the same day but this may not always be possible.

Customers may also opt to collect if local or organise a collection through their carrier network. We do ask that collections be before midday as after this we are loading our own lorries.

Delivery to the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland

We deliver to both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.

Please include your VAT number at checkout, and if your EORI number is different to your VAT number please email it to us.

Delivery to Europe

We do now offer a road freight service, purchasable at checkout, to most of mainland Europe.

Delivery to North America

We cannot offer a freight service, at checkout, to North America, but please feel free to get in touch to discuss shipping. Due to the cost of sea freight, we would always recommend buying multiple brushes to keep the cost per unit down.

In Canada, Swift Fox Industries stock our Sweepertec brushes, so please get in touch with them for all enquiries there.
